Still no star on Funen – Great disappointment here that the 2017 Michelin Nordic Guide did not award one to this region

The region of Funen had hoped to gain a star, but none was in sight at the presentation today in Stockholm of the 2017 Michelin selection. However, as the International Director Michael Ellis said:” The future looks bright for Nordic cuisine in general, it has really matured and is seen as a hallmark all over the world for its purity of product and many different cooking techniques.” So they just have to keep on trying. Five newcomers are bound to benefit from their Michelin status.

In 2016 the Michelin guide covering the Scandinavian market was renamed Michelin Nordic Guide taking into account also awards of stars and recommendations to restaurants outside the largest cities, and in 2017 they are continuing their focus on doing just that.

If you are travelling in the Nordic region the coming months – take advantage of these starred eateries to cover your culinary curiosity.

This year you can add the city of Hørve to your list of must-do’s. Where, I am sure you will ask, is that?

Located on Zealand, it is the restaurant of the old manor house hotel at Dragsholm Slot – not far from Kalundborg,  or have a go at  Ti Trin Ned in Fredericia located in South Jutland – just off the Storebælt bridge.

Of the two largest cities, Copenhagen’s 108 has received it as well as Domestic in Aarhus. And as a total newcomer – The Faraoe Islands has one too – restaurant Koks.

You will find NOMA – 2 stars in 2016 – sadly missing from the list – as they have closed and are rethinking their concept and reopening a new restaurant this year – maybe they will be back in 2018. Only one restaurant now has two stars in Copenhagen, restaurant AOC, and Henne Kirkeby Kro in Jutland got its second this year.
