BREAKING: Changes in free antigen tests from 8 February 2021

In 4 regions SOS International has been fired as the provider of  free public quick tests.

Only seven days after making a new agreement, the Danish Regions, responsible for the PCR and quick test centres, have fired the provider SOS Internatioonal due to problems with their subsupplier Nordic Medicals.

This means that in Region Hovedstaden, the existing test centers have again been changed and new ones are being put up, for instance in Copenhagen City in the football stadium in Fælledparken.

SOS International will continue to provide testing in Region Hovedstaden for the next 30 days until another solution has been made. They will be providing the testing with their own staff, which is why there for a while will be less local test centers.

For instance in Gentofte the large test center at Charlottenlund Station has been closed. Find a link to the updated locations below.

This was an overnight decision taken yesterday 7 February.

In the three other regions:  Region Midtjylland, Region Sjælland and Region Nordjylland, it will be Falck who takes over . In a press release Falck announces that they will be taking over from SOS International during the week and that there may be some disruption in the provision, the websites listed below will be updated continually during the week with the lastest information about the location of test centers.

Carelink A/S remains responsible in  Region Syddanmark.

It is not at present necessary to book an appointment for a free antigen test at a stationary test centre.

Thus if you want to have a free antigen test you need to look for their locations, usually you can find them at the site of each region or ask your municipality. They have all be updated with the new providers and addresses.

Free quick tests or free PCR tests are available to all Danish residents at different test centres and the Danish Health Authorities urge that those who still go out for work get a test once a week even if  they have no symptoms or have not been in contact with someone who is infected.

Using the free test system too track and stop spread is an important tool and even more so due to the expected rise in spread from the more contagious British coronavirus mutation, B 1.1.7.

There is ample test capacity in place enabling more than 100,000 daily tests of either the PCR test, with results in 24 to 48 hours, or the quicker antigene test with results in 15 minutes.

The health authorities advise anyone with symtoms, or who have been in contact with someone infected, to take the more reliable PCR test whereas the quick test is good to use for regular weekly testing for anyone who has regular contacts with other people for instance due to their job.
