Make the most of the Christmas markets in southern Sweden

For those living in the greater Copenhagen area, a daytrip to one of the markets is a delightful way to spend the day.

Less than an hour’s drive from Helsingborg you will find an enchanting beautiful old mansion surrounded by the most delightful and charming gardens you can image, surrounded by hills, forest and the sea, the Norrvikens Trådgårder.

The place is the creation and dream of Rudolf Abelin, who in 1905 came to Baastad looking for a place where he could make a living garden museum.

Although absolutely worth a visit during the summer, the garden’s main season, during winter, the annual Christmas market is another great time to visit.

From 22 to 24 November 2019, the special Christmas market offers booths to find decorations and gifts as well as several food and beverage experiences, music and of course Santa Claus for the children.

This year the park stays open after dusk where a magical lightshow enlightens the sculptures made of both stone and bush in the park. Friday from 15:00 to 20:00, Saturday 12:00 to 20:00 and Sunday from 12:00 to 18:00. Entrance is SEK 100, Children aged 4 to 15 SEK 50.

The remaining weekends before Christmas and until the 14 December, Norrvikens Trädgårdar are open Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00 with no entrance fee. More information here.

Located on a small half island in the lake of Bosjö, you will find the old white castle of Bosjokloster, who host their annual Christmas market in the historic buildings from 30 November to 1 December. Read more here. Bosjökloster is located about 45 minutes from Malmø in the direction of Kristianstad on the E22.

The old farm at Vallåkra hosts a delightful Christmas market, the Wideröra Christmas market on the 30 November and 1 December where more than 75 stalls will enchant you to buy delicate locally made arts and crafts or tempt you try local produce.
