Weekend of train buses instead of trains on many S-lines on 15 and 16 January

With no S-trains running between Nordhavn and Copenhagen Main station, most S-lines in the Greater Copenhagen Area are affected.

The article continues below.

By Bente D. Knudsen

The weekend will be trying for users of the S-lines going to, or arriving from, destinations north, south and east of Copenhagen to the city center.

DSB has informed that the reason is the work done on the new and up to date signalisation system.

Whatever the reason, travellers will be impacted.

Traffic will be impacted from Saturday 15 January early morning at 01.30 until Sunday 16 January early evening at 19:00

The S-lines are impacted differently and therefore it is a good idea to check with rejseplanen.dk before your trip, or to take the metro instead or the regional train.

Take note that the regional train (Kystbanen) at present still requires a seat reservation as the COVID-19 regulation is in place until the 17 January.

The replacement train buses do not require a seat reservation but will only take seated passengers on tourist buses thus limiting the amount of passengers on the bus and on the regular city buses, capacity will be limited to 70 percent.

Bicycles can during this period not be taken on a train bus and the capacity for prams may also be reduced.

Expect longer travel times and be prepared to have some waiting time.

S- train changes will be:

Saturday 15 January early morning at 01:30 until Sunday 16 January early morning at 02:00
Line A: Køge – Åmarken og Svanemøllen – Hillerød
Line B:  Høje Taastrup – Valby og Svanemøllen – Farum
Line C: Frederikssund – Valby
Line F: Ny Ellebjerg – Hellerup – Klampenborg

Sunday 16 January from early morning at 02:00 until Sunday morning 16 January at 07:00
Line A: Køge – Åmarken
Line B:  Høje Taastrup – Valby
Line C: Frederikssund – Valby
During this time period, only train buses will connect to the city center for travellers from west and north of Copenhagen city center.

Sunday morning 16 January at 07:00 until Sunday 16 January early evening at 19:00
Line A: Køge – Åmarken og Svanemøllen – Hillerød
Line B:  Høje Taastrup – Valby og Svanemøllen – Farum
Line C: Frederikssund – Valby
Line F: Ny Ellebjerg – Hellerup – Klampenborg

Take note that there will be NO train buses between Østerport, Vesterport and Nørreport as instead the Metro is an option as well as the regional train Kystbanen.

Check rejseplanen.dk which will remain updated.
