By Bente D. Knudsen Picture: The balcony on King Frederik’s palace upon which he and later the rest of his family will appear
On his birthday the royal house announces H.M King Frederik who will appear at 12:00 on 26 May to be greeted by the assembled crowd.
He will be greeted first and then his whole family will come out. Most likely his mother Queen Margrethe will appear as well, however, this has not been confirmed.
A very popular event even if on a Monday, go early to get a good “seat”, in other words, get to stand as close to the balcony as possible.
The Royal Guard’s band will be playing and Danes will be waving Danish flags.

In general, it’s a festive and great experience, certainly if you don’t mind crowds, and hopefully it will continue retain that special Danish relaxed style – letting people get close to the balcony without a large safety perimeter being put up.
When: Monday 26 May at 12:00 Amalienborg Slotsplads – Copenhagen.
