Danish Queen Margrethe will take up residence at Marselisborg Castle on Friday 20 December until Monday the 30 December.
She has traditionally in the past taken the train from Copenhagen Main Train station to Aarhus train station with the royal carriage, a special train made for the royal family.
You can see a video below made by royalista magazine Billed-Bladet in 2016, when Queen Margrethe took the train with her lady in waiting and her beloved dogs.
Christmas 2016 was the last time the entire royal family with the late Prince Henrik were gathered together at Marselisborg Castle for Christmas.
As she will be in residence at Marselisborg Castle, this means that the large changing of the guard ceremony with music will not take place at Amalienborg while the Queen is in Aarhus.
Find out when they are back below.
There will of course be a small changing of the guard, as the Royal guard always performs guard duty at Amalienborg Palace, so this will still take place at Amalienborg every day at 12.00
The Royal Lifeguard, Den Kongelige Livgarde, will perform the large changing of the guard ceremony every day at 12:00 at Marselisborg Castle during the period the Queen is in residence there.
They will not be accompanied by the full music corps of more than 30 musicians as they often are in Copenhagen but every day the tambours will join the changing of the guard in Aarhus.
She will stay in Aarhus until the 30 December after which she will take up residence at Amalienborg Castle, from where she will also make her annual New Year’s speech on 31 December at 18:00.
The full music corps of more than 30 members also do not join in the changing of the guard every day in Copenhagen, but they certainly will on the 31 December 2019.
On the 31 December it will be a large parade in Copenhagen.
Starting at 11:25 from their HQ at Rosenborg Castle they will march along Strøget to Kongens Nytorv and along Bredgade to Amalienborg where they arrive at 12:00..
The changing of the guard ceremony takes place until 12:40 and will entail also a short concert if the weather permits (they do no perform the concert by rain or snow).
At 12:4o they will march back to Rosenborg Castle along Store Kongensgade and Gothersgade.
